Indication
Angina and hypertension are treated with Concor Tablet either alone or in combination with other medications (chest pain due to decrease oxygen supply to the heart muscles). This medication lowers your heart rate by relaxing your heart muscles. Your blood pressure drops as a result.
Pharmacology
Concor's active ingredient, bisoprolol, is a beta1-selective adrenoceptor-blocking agent with no intrinsic stimulating or membrane-stabilizing activity. It has a very low affinity for the smooth muscle beta2 receptors of the bronchi and vessels, as well as the beta2 receptors involved in metabolic regulation. As a result, bisoprolol is unlikely to influence airway resistance or beta2-mediated metabolic effects. Its beta1-selectivity is not limited to the therapeutic dose range.
